This Bell & Ross, hearkening back to pilot’s watches of the Great War, is quite a piece of work. The simplicity here is beautiful. This one will cost you close to $4,000, but if you’re dead set on a design like this for something a bit more affordable, check out J. Crew’s collaboration with Tourneau below.
As you might have also concluded, I’m not sure I believe the marketing copy about these being “based on sketches discovered in the Mougin & Piquard archives.” Ben Clymer from Hodinkee seems to agree. While nobody has an exclusive claim on producing military watches, this one seems a little like a straight knock-off of the Bell & Ross.
In my opinion, get one of the other military watch options I’ve featured instead of paying $425 for this one. Whatever watch you get, enjoy and wear it in good health!
