Memorial Day weekend has just passed, and we are now officially in the season for summer attire! It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged here since I’m spending most of my time on my photo blog these days, but figured I’d do an intro to summer post!
I recently was on the hunt for a light blue linen jacket for the upcoming warmer months, and hit up all the usual suspects first, like Brooks Brothers:
And Billy Reid:
But do you really want to spend $450 dollars, especially for a jacket that’s probably going to be taken off and crumpled up at some point, anyways? That’s where Uniqlo comes in to save the day! I’ve blogged about Uniqlo in some of my previous “style on a budget" posts, and once again, I’ve found something that’s 90% of what I want for ~10% of the cost. Pick yours up here or in-store!
Do keep in mind — this jacket does run a little large. I usually am a 36-38 jacket, depending on the brand, but I had to go with an XS here. Size down one for best results!

Everyone, I’m elated to tell you that Tumblr will be joining Yahoo.
Before touching on how awesome this is, let me try to allay any concerns: We’re not turning purple. Our headquarters isn’t moving. Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission – to empower creators to…
Big news! Congrats to David Karp and the Tumblr team. A nice exit for a great NYC company. Yahoo, please don’t screw this one up? Thanks. :)
Over 800 million people worldwide still do not have reliable access to clean water. Much has been done, but many of the wells built over the decades are now broken. In Africa alone, over 50,000 wells are completely useless!
Today is World Water Day — Join me in supporting The Adventure Project as it partners with Water for People to scale a water well mechanic program in Uganda! The impact? Over 7 million Ugandans who will have access to sustainable, clean water!
I’ve written about this briefcase before, once regarding the standard model, once about a collaboration Filson did with Apolis. My one beef with Filson previously was that it didn’t come in a navy — for me, olives and tans in a city bag are less desirable compared to a darker shade.
I’d thought about picking up the ApolisxFilson collab, but to be honest, I balked at the nearly $400 price tag, even though I know about the social mission behind the making of the bags.
Because I was looking for a relatively immediate replacement for my banker duffel that had fallen apart, I ended up going with a model from Jack Spade instead, which I picked up during their Surplus Sale last fall. I trust that the Spade will hold up for a while, but if there ever comes a day when it does give out, you know what I’ll be picking up — a Filson 256 in navy!
